nice quote

I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.

February 10

If you know me, you may have already known that I am going to fly to Sydney, Australia on this 10th of February, which is just around the corner.

There it is.

No, I'm not going there for a holiday. I'm going there to study. Ever heard of B.Ed TESOL? Well, I am under a twinning programme of B.Ed TESOL. I had my foundation and my first year of degree in IPG Penang Campus, and now I will need to do my second and third year of degree in a university in Australia, namely Macquarie University. It is located in Sydney, New South Wales.

Yes, spell it this way.

After two years, I will come back to Malaysia in order to do my practical year and later get posted to school, to start my teaching career.

*Can't wait to start teaching!* Yeah, right...

Now, back to the topic. Look at the date of February 10. Look at it carefully. Now do you notice that when you count the number of letters plus numbers, you will get 10? Don't believe me? Okay, let's count together.

F+E+B+R+U+A+R+Y+1+0 =10!

See? Okay, there's no important point there. Sorry for wasting your time. :P

What is so special about February 10? Well, let's find out.

February 10 is the 41st day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. There are 324 days remaining until the end of the year (325 in leap years) - says Wikipedia

The last one is the sweetest one. xD

Oh ya, I forgot something. February 10 is also the birthday of several popular personalities. Let me list them out.

1955 : Greg Norman, an Australian professional golfer

1962 : Cliff Burton, an American musician

1987 : Choi Si-won, a Korean singer (Super Junior)

1990 : Choi Soo-young, a Korean singer, actress and model (Girl's Generation)

1991 : Atiqah Musa, a Malaysian student, class treasurer (TESOL)

1991 : Emma Roberts, an American actress, niece to Julia Roberts

WHOOPSS. Wait right there. Scroll up a bit. Atiqah Musa? ATIQAH MUSA? Isn't that... ME? I'm not that famous okayyy.

But hey, February 10 is MY BIRTHDAY! And Emma and I share the same birthdate! Now I can celebrate my birthday with Choi Si-won and Choi Soo-young too! Er, by the way, are they siblings? They have the same family name, you see? Nah, doesn't matter, not a problem for me.

Now that you (and I) know that February 10 is my birthday, and also my first-flight-ever date, what do you think will happen on that special day?

I mean, it is 2-in-1 celebration, thus it must be a very memorable day ever! I am thinking of several possibilities that may take place during my birthday.

First possibility, I will step into the KLIA and every single person in there sings the famous Happy Birthday song with a very beautiful voise. The CEO of KLIA (is there one?) will walk right to me and give me a big present wrapped in a beautiful box! Somebody will push a trolley of a big delicious cake and let me blow the candle... Okay stop right there. What a nonsense.

Second possibility, I will enter the plane and sit at my place. At the same time, everyone in the plane including the pilot will stand up and start singing the song "Selamat Hari Jadi", the Malay version of Happy Birthday song. The very handsome pilot will walk up to me and hand in a plate containing a yummy oreo cheesecake. Wait, he will not give it to me, instead of that, he will slam the cake onto my face! And he will smile and say, "Happy birthday sweetie!". Everyone else will hold an egg in their hand, and right after the hot pilot moves away, they will start throwing eggs at me! Ouch. I hope that would never happen.

Third possibility, I will walk into KLIA and check in and nothing happens. I will go around and talk to everyone whom I know (and about to know) and nothing happens. I will enter the aeroplane and sit at my place and nothing happens. I will spend about 8 hours in the plane and nothing happens. I will arrive in Sydney and nothing, not a single special thing happens. Possible? Uhm, maybe it sounds frustrating, but it may happen. Who knows?

Okay, I don't write this post to make sure that everyone will buy a present or a cake for my birthday. I simply do not mind if people do not even remember my birthday. Even the people who are close to me. Yes, I'm telling the truth. Why?

Because I hold to a principle that says, "Expect nothing, and you will always be happy". Talking about expectation, disappointment is mainly caused when something you hope for fails to meet your expectation. Thus, why should I hope for things that might not happen? I love to be happy, so why should I hope and later become disappointed? It is a lot better if I just expect nothing instead of something, because when a good surprise pops up, I will feel happy since it is not expected!

Therefore, why am I writing something like February-10-is-my-birthday-so-you'd-better-remember-or-we-are-friends-no-more post? Why?

Because I simply want to make this 10th of February 2011 a day that I would never forget in my life - by immortalising it in this very blog of mine. ;)

Pray me a happy flight anyway! And thanks for reading! ^_^
